My first blog post. Ever.
Welcome. I'm new to this game so feel free to toss me ideas, criticisms, likes and opinions.
My name is Kayleigh. I am owner, manager and team member at Dixon Coffee Company. I have an intense passion for people. Yea, coffee is a close #2, BUT... I LOVE people. I truly feel like my life's purpose is to have, create and nurture these relationships. There are so many times when I fall short, but my heart is full when I can share a smile with a gal thru the coffee shop window, a high five from a toothless 5 year old who can't wait for their whip cup, or at the deepest level with my husband and three babes.
My passion for coffee started in college when I received a gut tingling phone call informing me that I was hired at this little drive thru coffee hut in my home town of Rapid City, SD. Little did I know that this was just the start of a fulfilling journey of meeting some of the BEST people, discovering my passion for coffee and all it entails, and pushing me waaaay out of my comfort levels. I own a business. Whoa. Never in a million years did I think this life would take me here. I'm not kidding when I say that it still gives me goosebumps when someone compliments our shop.
Ive recently been introduced to this amazing group of creatives who gather once a month to bounce ideas off of one another, get and share advice and support on their journey. What an amazing way to bring people together in such a positive and encouraging light. This last meeting, I was challenged to start my blog; something I've been putting off (if you've been on our website, you may have noticed the 'blog coming soon' post for.. ahem... over a year).
So here I am. I will be following with some behind the scenes right from our shop, brewing tips, some real life ups and downs of owning a business and leading a team and so much more. Again, if there's anything you'd like to hear from me, feel free to shoot me a message.
If you want to hear more about my personal journey, check out the amazing Stand to Serve podcast by Emily Costopoulos. You'll be pleasantly surprised to find a solid bunch of women who share wisdom about their creative journey.
With love and so much gratitude,
